Here is an example of a schedule that has daily, weekly, and monthly schedules for chinchilla care. Obviously, times can be adjusted to better accommodate your own routine. There may also be one or two days a week when the chin does not get play time. These days can be determined by your plans for the week and can change from week to week.
DAILY
| 8:00 AM |
Check level in water bottle and add more water, if necessary. |
| 7:00-7:30 PM |
Take your chinchilla out for play time. |
| 7:30 PM |
Provide fresh hay. |
| 7:45 PM |
Wash and refill water bottle. |
| 8:00 PM |
Provide fresh pellets. |
| 8:30 PM |
Provide one treat. |
WEEKLY
- Provide a dust bath for your chin periodically throughout the week.
- Clean cage at least once a week.
- Clean bedding and droppings from around the cage as needed.
- Wipe urine from cage shelves and ledges as needed.
- Provide new chew toys as needed.
- Throw out alfalfa cubes and replace them with fresh cubes a few times a week, depending on temperature and humidity.
MONTHLY
- Take cage outside and scrub it thoroughly.
- Wash hammocks or Boodha buddies. Wash more often if these items become soiled.
- Check supplies to see if anything needs to be ordered.
