CHINformation.org | The Chinchilla Railroad | Chinchilla Rescues | Featured Rescue

The CHINformation Organization provides a directory of rescue locations throughout the United States and Canada. In an effort to help more chinchillas find forever homes, we are now featuring rescue chinchillas in various areas. We will provide information on a rescue chin as well as any known background information. We encourage you to contact the individual or organization that has been caring for the featured chinnies to find out more information and possibly adopt a new and wonderful pet. Each featured chinchilla will remain on this page until he or she has found a new home. The only way to see new furry faces is to ensure these featured chins are adopted.

Organization Name: Monty's Place - Chinchilla Rescue and Refuge
Featured Chinchillas' Names: Silva, Swoosh, and Squirt
Gender: Female
Color: Standard Grey
Age: Silva is 7; Swoosh and Squirt are both 3
Brought in: March 25, 2006
History: Swoosh and Squirt are the daughters of Silva. Although not born in the same litter, they were both born in 2003. Their previous owner bought a pair of chinchillas from a pet store for her children seven years ago. She thought they were both males. One turned out to be female (Silva) and the pair had several litters of kits. The previous owner's children are now grown and the chinchillas have been neglected. All three females have been kept in a very small cage and all three have been fur chewing. A veterinary visit is pending. All three females are eating and drinking normally and do not seem to be in any immediate distress.
Disposition: Silva is quiet and laid back and is the most skittish of the trio. Swoosh is inquisitive and bright-eyed. She has a great appetite and is very friendly. Squirt is the most friendly of the trio. She will jump out onto your shoulder upon opening the cage door. She is very inquisitive and playful.
Adoption fee: $50.00 each (separation is negotiable)
Additional information and contact information: Monty's Place is located in Long Island, New York. You can contact them by calling 516-680-9271 or writing to caddycoachqueen@yahoo.com.
